Portfolio Analyst

Job Description

We're hiring a Portfolio Analyst to focus on providing insight that strengthens portfolio governance and enables prioritisation, decisions and effective allocation of resources. You'll help ensure optimal delivery of departmental objectives and conduct analysis of a range of information sources.

Role responsibilities:

  • Assist and support the Portfolio Manager and deputise when necessary

  • Champion the use of best practice project, programme and portfolio management standards and processes

  • Analyses and challenges portfolio reporting data and escalates as required

  • Develop management information and performance dashboards (preferably Power BI)

  • Identify, develop and share best practice project management processes, tools and templates and benchmarks against industry standard

  • Provides guidance and training to the project delivery community and other stakeholders

  • Developing and maintaining the Portfolio Delivery schedule using Microsoft Project.

  • Monitoring and controlling the baseline of key milestones

  • Escalation of milestone changes to the Portfolio Manager and Head of Portfolio Delivery

  • Project finance analysis and reporting.

  • Helps to maintain the Portfolio RAID log

  • Identify portfolio risks (threats and opportunities), raise and escalate as appropriate

  • Managing and engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.


Your Skills: 

  • Advanced excel skills (creating/amending reporting dashboards from datasets)

  • Experienced in portfolio & programme environment (not PMO)

  • Data analysis skills

  • Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) qualification or Management of Portfolios at Foundation or Practitioner level or equivalent experience

Desirable: 

  • PowerBI experience

  • MS Projects

  • JIRA
