Introduction
Hanover are a Resourcing Consulting Partner to the UK Public Sector. We understand the importance of UK Government policies and proposals for decarbonising all sectors of the UK economy to meet net zero target by 2050.
Hanover are committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace, and to minimise minimising any harmful impact on the environment. We acknowledge our responsibility to act sustainably across all functions and recognise the need for sustainable practices by the company, and by individual employees.
We are a micro SME with employees working remotely. Our current activities do not create emissions to the environment covered by environmental protection legislation. However, we remain committed to a high level of sustainability and environmental protection and, where possible, enhancement.
SME Climate Commitment
We have officially committed to The SME Climate Commitment. Recognising that climate change poses a threat to the economy, nature, and society, our company commits to take action immediately in order to:
- Halve our greenhouse gas emissions before 2030
- Achieve net zero emissions before 2050
- Disclose our progress on a yearly basis
In doing so, we are proud to be recognised by the United Nations Race to Zero campaign, and join governments, businesses, cities, regions, and universities around the world that share the same mission.
To undertake and implement change, we reviewed our current position and have set out a Carbon Reduction Plan along with a strategy including actions points, to enable us to monitor progress towards net zero emissions as a business.
Carbon Reduction Plan
Commitment to achieving net zero
Hanover Digital is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
Baseline emissions footprint
Baseline year: 2024
Additional details relating to the baseline emissions calculations: We created a new baseline in 2024 due to substantial organisational change and restructuring.

Scope 1: 0
Scope 2: 0
Scope 3 (Business Travel, Purchased Goods and Services): 61
Total emissions: 61
Current emissions reporting
Reporting year: 2024

Scope 3 (Business Travel, Purchased Goods and Services): 61
Total emissions: 61
Emissions reduction targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving net zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 18.3 tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 70%.
Carbon reduction projects
Completed carbon reduction initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed since the 2024 baseline. Due to 2024 being the first year of measured CO2e emissions, the report for the Baseline year and Current Reporting year contains the same figures. Due to this, the explanations below apply to both sets of data.
- Implemented a paperless business construct – digitally led with cloud-based solutions
- Integrated environmental principles into operational procedures and decision processes.
- Implemented a sustainable supplier policy and scoring index.
- Compliance with all relevant environmental legislation/regulation and regular communications on the latest available green initiatives.
- Promoted responsibility for the environment within the organisation and communicated policies to external organisations we work with.
- Checklists and policies for prioritising sustainability requirements above funding or budgetary needs.
- Encourage and facilitate feedback and suggestions from stakeholders to improve good practice.
- Induction training scheme encouraging green choices when remote working
Future carbon reduction initiatives
In the future we will continue with measures set out in 2024 and build on these with the following actions:
- Partnership with SkootEco to implement ESG initiatives and achieve our NetZero goals. SkootEco are a B Corp certified organisation that provide expert solutions to improve governance, meet reporting requirements, and reduce emissions.
- Support the ‘Social: Circular Economy and Waste Management Project’. This project operator is the largest ESG Reuse Marketplace, connecting enterprises, nonprofits, and SMEs to facilitate the reuse and redistribution of surplus items across sectors such as construction, real estate, retail, hospitality, and medical. This helps organisations address sustainability challenges while improving operational efficiency. By supporting this project, we estimate that our 61 tons of carbon emissions will be retired by June 2025.
- Launch Skoot Life programme, where every month we'll plant 14 certified trees and remove 70 ocean-bound plastic bottles on behalf of our employees.
- Continue to work with SkootEco to identify ESG initiatives and also carbon reduction, carbon off-setting and carbon retirement projects that we can support.
- Digital communications and meetings are kept to a minimum, monitoring structure to be implemented via our CRM and IT supplier.
- Undertake regular renewable energy audits on energy and offer a subsidy to those opting to use renewable energy suppliers at home (remote working)
- Minimise business travel and continue to utilise video meeting technologies wherever possible. Monitor travel transport usage with monthly audit and review. Opt for green transport alternatives on necessary routes.
- Provide a general best practice recycling and re-use guide during onboarding . Supply recycling resources and information from each local authority to individual employees. Promote understanding of food waste and food logistic impacts through reports.
- Regular updates on environment changes and reports. Schedule Quarterly Green Thinking training webinars
- Suppliers to adhere to our Supplier Sustainability policy and meet requirements.
- Future device purchases are to be rated on emissions and energy ratings and develop partnerships with a device upcycling company.
- Sign up to local environmental, clean up, rewilding and green volunteering schemes
