This role is heavily focused on Splunk log ingestion, telemetry pipelines, data onboarding, and operational monitoring, working closely with architects and delivery teams to ensure continuity of service during migration and cutover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and maintain existing Splunk-based observability platforms during migration activity
- Design and manage log ingestion and telemetry pipelines feeding Splunk and Dynatrace in parallel
- Configure and optimise Splunk components including forwarders, inputs, indexes, parsing, and tagging
- Work with FluentD and other log shippers to onboard application, platform, and infrastructure logs
- Translate Splunk dashboards, alerts, and use cases into Dynatrace equivalents
- Configure Dynatrace environments, management zones, tagging, and access controls in line with target architecture
- Support dashboarding, alerting, and operational monitoring for live services
- Work closely with Architects, Developers, during migration, cutover, and stabilisation
- Ensure monitoring solutions are production-ready, supportable, and operable by live service teams
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience as a Platform, DevOps, or Observability Engineer
- Hands-on Splunk experience including:
- Log ingestion and data onboarding
- Forwarders, indexes, parsing, and field extraction
- Dashboards, alerts, and operational monitoring
- SPL and troubleshooting data quality / performance issues
- Experience building and supporting telemetry pipelines (FluentD, agents, log shippers)
- Exposure to Dynatrace or other modern APM / observability platforms (migration experience desirable)
- Experience supporting on-prem and legacy estates
- Comfortable working in regulated / government environments
- SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC
