This is a hands-on role suited to engineers with strong data integration, SQL, and data platform expertise, ideally gained within large, regulated or public sector environments.
You will work closely with Agile delivery teams, translating complex data requirements into scalable, high-quality solutions that align with governance and security standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and support data integration and processing solutions
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical designs
- Develop and maintain ETL pipelines using Talend and related tools
- Write, optimise, and maintain complex SQL and PL/SQL scripts
- Produce High-Level and Low-Level Designs (HLDs/LLDs) where required
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies and collaborative team practices
- Ensure solutions meet security, governance, and development standards
- Support testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of data solutions
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience as a Data Engineer in enterprise environments
- Proven expertise in Talend (ETL / data integration)
- Solid experience with Unix / Linux
- Advanced Oracle SQL skills
- Experience using Jira and Confluence
- Demonstrable experience working in Agile delivery teams
- Active SC clearance or eligibility to obtain it
Desirable Skills:
- Oracle PL/SQL
- AWS and cloud-based data platforms
- GitLab and CI/CD practices
- HashiCorp Vault
- Knowledge of structured delivery lifecycles (e.g. Design for Delivery)
- Experience with job scheduling tools, test automation frameworks, or data modelling
- Familiarity with tools such as Artifactory or Denodo
