Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented Java code.
- Conduct peer reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
- Collaborate with UCD designers, Business Analysts, Performance Analysts, QA, and other developers to build inclusive services.
- Ensure adherence to technical coding standards, best practices, and documentation requirements.
- Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, including estimation, sprint planning, and backlog grooming.
- Act as a “critical friend,” offering clear, solution-focused feedback and helping remove blockers.
- Proactively manage dependencies and communicate effectively around delivery timelines.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years’ commercial Java development experience.
- Strong understanding of functional programming principles and TDD.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices.
- Experience developing services to meet GOV.UK Service Standard and WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
