Fantastic opportunity for an experienced User Researcher to work on high-impact public services, helping teams understand user needs and shape accessible, effective government services in line with GDS standards, within Agile delivery environments.

Remote, Inside IR35 role with occasional travel to Newcastle (maybe once a month)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, design and conduct user research in line with GDS standards
  • Work within Agile, multidisciplinary teams alongside designers, developers, product managers and stakeholders
  • Use qualitative and quantitative research methods to understand user needs, behaviours and pain points
  • Translate research findings into clear insights to inform service design and product decisions
  • Advocate for users and accessibility throughout the design and development lifecycle
  • Support usability testing, discovery and continuous improvement activities

Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience as a User Researcher within government or highly regulated environments
  • Strong knowledge of GDS service standards and user-centred design principles
  • Experience planning and conducting a range of research methods (interviews, usability testing, surveys, etc.)
  • Experience working in Agile delivery teams
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to synthesise and present insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience researching complex, policy-driven or transactional services
