Business Analyst

Job Description

We're looking for a Business Analyst to build a deep understanding of existing business processes at a Central Government department 

Your main responsibilities will be:
  • Build a deep understanding of existing business processes
  • Understand new business and stakeholder requirements through common requirement elicitation techniques
  • Work closely with user researchers to understand user needs, write user stories and acceptance criteria documenting both user and business needs as well as enabling development teams to understand the context behind them
  • Liaise with engineers and technical architects to identify and select appropriate technical solutions based on a deep understanding of requirements
  • Support product managers to form and groom product backlogs, using evidence and data to drive prioritisation and scope
  • Liaise with service managers, product owners and delivery managers to support the necessary business change activities required
  • Ensure business requirements are fully understood by external suppliers and work with those suppliers to support delivery through planning, implementation and testing
  • Carry out functional testing of completed user stories, ensuring services meet requirements and other internal standards, documenting and managing defects as they arise

You will have relevant experience in:
  • Working in a dynamic, fast paced agile environment, as well as working collaboratively and openly with others
  • Working with a broad range of stakeholders to elicit business requirements and model complex business processes
  • Experience of documenting user needs and requirements in the form of user stories but also have experience of more traditional requirements documentation
  • Working with backlog and defect tracking tools such as Trello and JIRA
  • Working on and prioritising multiple projects at the same time
