VOIP Engineer

Job Description

Are you a seasoned Voice Engineer with expertise in SIP protocols? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join an innovative team in a Central Government department. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • SIP Protocol Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert on SIP voice and video protocols. Ensure proper configuration and optimization of SIP signalling and media flow. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SIP communication.
  • Voice Gateway Configuration: Assist in optimizing call routing and connectivity through voice gateway configurations. Collaborate with network and telephony product teams for seamless voice gateway integration.
  • Session Border Controller (SBC) Management: Configure and manage SBCs in a highly available configuration for secure and efficient communication. Implement and maintain policies for traffic normalization, security, and transcoding on SBCs.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex voice communication issues related to SIP, voice gateways, and SBCs. Provide support for escalated voice-related problems.
  • Quality of Service (QoS) Optimization: Implement and fine-tune network parameters to ensure optimal voice quality across the network.
  • Integration and Interoperability: Ensure seamless integration between voice systems, gateways, and SBCs.
  • Collaborate with vendors to test and validate interoperability of new voice technologies.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Create and maintain detailed documentation for voice and video configurations.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to other engineers and support teams.

Desirable Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Voice Engineer with a focus on SIP, voice gateways, and SBCs.
  • Familiarity with WebRTC voice and video protocols is desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of SIP signalling, media flows, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with voice gateway configuration and management.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing Session Border Controllers (SBCs).
  • Strong understanding of Quality of Service (QoS) principles in a voice environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
