ETL Developer

Job Description

Opportunity to join a ministerial led Government department to build ETL pipelines and reports to ensure that no viable UK export fails for lack of finance or insurance, while operating at no net cost to the taxpayer. Your responsibilities: Development of ETL pipelines and BI reports including technical impact assessments for changes required by the business. Technical design for new developments, determining the appropriate approach for new applications and their relationship to existing environments and other systems. Support and enhancement of existing applications. Administration and maintenance of environments. Provide advice and guidance to projects on the potential use of applications, development approaches, tools and 3rd party components. Investigation of issues resulting from the use of 3rd party tools. Unit testing including the investigation and resolution of defects identified user acceptance testing. Creation and maintenance of consistent and comprehensive documentation for business systems, including the relationships between IT components and business functionality. Provide advice and guidance on potential uses of software across the Department. Deployment of solutions between environments, including LIVE environments. Essential skills: Expert Knowledge of Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) Expert Knowledge of T-SQL query. Knowledge of data warehouse architectures. Knowledge of BI tools such as PowerBI, Cognos Provision of advice and guidance to less experienced co-workers, including potentially trainees. Structured analysis and documentation of business requirements. Strong Experience, or relevant transferable skills, in four or more of the following: ETL development SQL Coding in T-SQL Developing Reports in Power BI Full understanding of the MS-SQL stack Efficient and conformant Database Design skills Knowledge and experience of SQL Optimisation techniques SQL Troubleshooting skills – across and within systems
