Programme Test Manager

As Test Manager you will plan and manage testing to drive forward the delivery of capabilities that enhance and transform services. You will analyse and work closely with the technical teams to articulate and solve complex problems and concepts, and make disciplined decisions based on available information. 

You will apply logical thinking, gather and analyse information using comprehensive tools and techniques. You will have a proactive responsibility to deliver secure systems and implement proportionate controls to enable successful business outcomes. In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for enabling delivery of Testing solutions across functional and non-functional for programmes and products

  • Leading the definition and implementation of Testing strategies for products and subsequent coordination of resources, tasks, risks, dependencies, and service requirements

  • Evidenced experience of working with senior stakeholders to ensure capability & capacity is aligned with organisational strategy, over a sustained period

  • Enabling and ensuring the effective delivery of Testing approaches typically using agile and CI/CD methods and deploying an ‘automation by default’ approach

  • Enabling the use of analytical techniques including risk-based testing and test analysis and design techniques where appropriate

  • Enabling complex integration testing for products as required and lead the co-ordination effort for assurance process with 3rd party vendors

  • Enabling the use of exploratory testing techniques and the use or re-use of a broad range of tools, including open source and cloud based, to support the delivery of Testing services across product development

  • Work with the necessary technical teams to ensure the availability and suitability of appropriate test environments

  • Applying the appropriate test measurements and metrics in the product and the Testing Team

  • Enable and own the status reporting for various products and providing updates to stakeholders

  • Advising on Testing practices to support the digital by default service standard, often working as part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on user needs and user centred design.

  • This role does have line manager responsibility.


Essential Experience: 

  • Proven test management experience delivering complex programmes including functional, non-functional and security testing etc

  • Proven experience providing guidance about automation best practices and tools

  • Engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, being able to escalate and articulate critical risks to senior management if required

  • Evidenced experience of working with senior stakeholders to ensure capability & capacity is aligned with organisational strategy, over a sustained period

  • Implement clear Test Strategies and audit and risk control policies across teams, supporting in their identification of risks and clear communication of their impact

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written), analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Well versed with Agile, DevOps and continuous delivery.
